"It's not a mistake, it's just energies aligning."
Diane De Brito changed her stage name to IAMDDB back in 2015, transformed her image & artistry and has leveled up ever since. She was named by Beats 1 radio host, Julie Adenuga, as the "future of music". Her name change signifies that while she is present as who she is, she wants her listeners to vibe with her music as themselves.
IAMDDB is an independent artist who lives by staying humble, having fun and most importantly, keeping it G and moving.
She has had a passion for music ever since she was the age of three and believes she was born to do music. Her sound of "urban jazz" incorporates her love of the genre, but with elements from trap, hip-hop and soul music. She is a dynamic artist that can't be limited to one genre. She can flow over a hard trap beat, but she also has a voice that can elevate you into another world. Did I mention that she also produces?
She describes herself as "hoodrich" which she defines as "making the most out of nothing". Her definition goes to show that she manifested her own destiny. From 2016 when she dropped her EP, Waevey, she has worked consistently releasing projects to earn the buzz that she's created for herself.
The 22-year-old was featured in VEVO Dscvr's Artists to Watch of 2018, named by BBC as one of their Sounds of 2018 and awarded as KOKO London's Worldwide Breakthrough Act of the year. She has also toured with Bryson Tiller and Jhene Aiko.
IAMDDB's dedication to her music is admirable because being an independent artist is challenging on its own. But, she went to an even higher level of hard work by staying completely true to who she is.
It's easy to follow trends, bite off others and become successful, but IAMDDB made her own movement and is able to keep watching it grow and skyrocket. She has made it all happen in a time span of three years which should serve as motivation for artists everywhere.
IAMDDB has been promoting her next EP, Flightmode Vol.4, and fans will be able to hear it exclusively at her tour next month!
She has partnered with Red Bull for her UK tour, Flightmode Live. It will stop by four cities: Manchester, London, Birmingham and Bristol. She heightens the concert experience even more by giving each tour date a different theme and dress code. I've never seen such an innovative idea done by an artist before.
She says it will be a unique experience for her fans to vibe out with her and her friends. Pre-sale tickets have already sold out and tickets will go on sale on Friday at 10 A.M.
