Growing up in the church in South Jersey led Tone Stith to have a love for music. He began playing the drums when he was three years old. Singing was next on the list of his God given talent and at the age of 11 he began producing his own beats. This was the moment Tone realized that he wanted to take things a step further and follow his dream.
He was a part of the group, SJ3, with his best friends from his hometown. In 2013, they were discovered by Jas Prince, who also discovered Drake before he was signed to Young Money. But, Tone eventually went solo and is still in L.A and a part of the YEMG Records family.
The 22-year-old is a quadruple threat: Singer, songwriter, producer and dancer. His fifth gift is that along with the drums, he plays the piano and guitar.
He draws inspiration for his music from past musical eras especially his biggest influences Michael Jackson and Prince. Their influence live through his angelic and silky vocals. You know an artist can truly sing when their live vocals and acoustics exceed their recorded tracks.
While growing as an artist, he has written for Chris Brown ("Liquor" and "Make Love"). He also has toured with Bryson Tiller and August Alsina. He even got a co-sign from Drizzy himself.
After two years of growth, dedication and persistence, he released his debut project Can We Talk last year.
What makes me a fan of Tone is that he is an artist who isn't afraid to show his ups and downs of trying to reach his dream. He puts his faith on display for all to see and spreads the message of growing through adversity. His music is not only for himself, but it's for his listeners to have a source of positivity and inspiration in their lives.
While promoting singles off his debut, he recently released a cover of Kehlani's "Honey". She has praised the cover and reposted it on her Instagram.
Make sure to be on the look out for Tone all 2018 because his grind doesn't stop!
